Paint Protection Film Packages: Which Coverage Level Fits Your Vehicle?

Paint Protection Film Packages: Which Coverage Level Fits Your Vehicle?

NW Window Tinting answers a common customer question below.

Direct answer

The right paint protection film package depends on where a vehicle receives damage, how it is driven, and how long the owner plans to keep it. Partial coverage protects targeted wear areas. Full-front coverage protects the panels most exposed to road debris. The Pacific Northwest package adds protection for areas that receive additional wear from wet roads, highway debris, and everyday use.

Essential Protection

Coverage: partial hood, partial front fenders, headlights, door cups, and door edges.

This package focuses on common wear points at a lower entry cost. It is a practical fit for local driving, leased vehicles, or owners who want targeted protection without covering the entire front end.

Commuter Front

Coverage: front bumper, partial hood, partial front fenders, mirrors, headlights, door cups, and door edges.

This package adds the front bumper and mirrors, which receive regular exposure during highway and commuter driving. It is designed for daily drivers that spend meaningful time on I-5, I-205, SR-14, or other high-traffic routes.

Full Front

Coverage: front bumper, full hood, full front fenders, mirrors, headlights, door cups, and door edges.

Full Front protects the major forward-facing painted panels and avoids the visible film edge across a partial hood or fender. It is a strong choice for newer vehicles, higher-value paint, road trips, and owners who want broader coverage without wrapping the entire vehicle.

Pacific Northwest Package

Coverage: everything in Full Front, plus the A-pillars, roof leading edge, and lower rocker-panel leading areas.

This package expands protection into areas that can receive road spray, grit, chips, and repeated wear in Pacific Northwest driving. It is intended for owners who want more complete real-world protection around the vehicle’s most exposed zones.

What does PPF protect against?

Paint protection film is a sacrificial layer intended to reduce damage from common road debris, light scratches, bug residue, and repeated contact in vulnerable areas. It does not make paint indestructible. A severe impact can still damage the film or paint underneath.

How should customers choose?

Consider annual mileage, highway use, vehicle value, ownership length, paint color, and tolerance for visible chips. If a customer is deciding between two packages, the best comparison is usually the cost of added coverage versus the panels they would most regret having chipped.

Prices vary by vehicle size, panel complexity, paint condition, and whether previous film must be removed. A final quote should identify the exact panels included.
